The Spectacular Landscape of Padar Island is formed by volcanic mountains and rolling hills. During the wet season, the island glows with lush green hues, while the dry season transforms it into a striking expanse of muted greys. The island consist of three unique bays namely pink sand, white, black one.
This small island lies between Komodo Island and Rinca Island.. As part of Komodo National Park, Padar is also home to Komodo dragons. Therefore, for safety you must be accompanied by ranger or guide to explore the island.
Trekking on Spectacular Landscape of Padar Island requires stamina. The round-trip path spans 2 kilometers and includes roughly 700 stairs to reach the summit. During peak season from July to September, the trail can become crowded, resembling a winding snake from the starting point to the top, which some visitors find overwhelming.
Padar Island is open to visitors from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. It closes between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM due to intense heat. In the past, accidents have occurred when visitors attempted to trek during these closed hours. For safety, individuals with conditions like asthma are advised not to the trek.
To get to Padar Island offers several options. You can stay in a hotel in Labuan Bajo–Flores Island and take a daily wooden or speedboat trip. Alternatively, option for an overnight adventure on a private or shared boat tour.
You need to prepare everything from Labuan Bajo prior starting tour like sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a hat, and cash in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), as there are no currency exchange services on the island. If you plan to fly a drone, you’ll need to arrange permission at the Komodo National Park office in Labuan Bajo at least three days before your trip as on-the-spot isn’t allowed to buy the ticket.
